Dies ist die seltene Gelegenheit, an Bob Luman, den Shadows (= James Burton und James Kirkland), den Platters, an David Houston, den Blockbusters und Susan Cabot Gefallen zu finden. C hristy’s Place, a rundown nightclub operated in conjunction with a carnival, is located on an ocean pier. Christy Christtakos, a middle aged carney and former burlesque comedian, is having a hard time breaking even. He decides to put a couple of good rock ’n‘ roll bands in the club to bolster business. He runs across Natalie Cooke, a young and beautiful waitress, who has a terrific singing voice and engages her to sing and dance with the rock ’n‘ roll bands. After a few months, Christy falls hopelessly in love with Natalie despite the difference in their ages. Natalie realizes that Christy has taken her out of a cheap restaurant and developed her into a first rate rock ’n‘ roll singer. She plays along with him so as not to hurt his feelings, although she is not in love with him. Meanwhile, she meets Stanley, a handsome young guy whose only means of support seems to be gambling. Celia, a hardfaced bitter woman in her late thirties, resents the fact that Natalie has taken her job in the club and loses no time in telling Christy about Natalie and Stanley. Christy is furious and pleads with Natalie to no avail. Meanwhile, Christy’s creditors are bearing down on him. Christy’s loyal friend and assistant, Ben, tries to reason with him. He knows that Christy’s only thoughts are towards winning Natalie and that his business is suffering. Natalie has her hands full with her work and the rock ‚a‘ roll fans are flocking to the club. Whenever she has a free moment she and Stanley are together which thoroughly frustrates Christy. One night, Stanley and Christy get into a discussion about Natalie, and Stanley suggests that they cut high cards, the stakes being Christy’s club against getting rid of Stanley. Natalie tries to stop them but with her intercession Christy has to show off in front of her and as a result loses the club. By this time, Natalie and Stanley have fallen in love and Natalie, who is now sorry for Christy, talks to Stanley into giving him a job as a burlesque tramp comedian in the rock ’n‘ roll show. Christy takes the job as it is the only way he can be near Natalie now that he has gambled away his ownership in the club. The two young people decide to elope. Christy learns of their plans and waits for Natalie late that night in the deserted club. She comes through on her way to meet Stanley in her wedding dress. Christy tells her that she will always belong to him and sets fire to the club. Stanley rushes in and rescues Natalie and then, risking his own life, goes back for Christy. Ben ministers to Christy’s burns as Natalie and Stanley go off to keep their date with the preacher…
